http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/01/16/prison.j...t.ap/index.htmlI've got a book put together by this man. You can find it
here.
If you want to read about prison reality, then I recommend it.
BTW, I'm not being an apologist for the man's crime.

Most people go to prison and stay thugs. Some go and get a certain level of rehabilitation. And, a few go in and end up help their fellow man.
And, then some people get away with
their crimes for 40 years.

The era of the penitentiary is over - our current model of criminal justice has regressed towards retribution, an eye for an eye. Any rehabilitation that's done is on the inmates own initiative. I have no comment as to his crime, but using his time to make something of his life is no small thing.
As for Steve's second link, I'm surprised that there isn't discussion of how a grand wizard of the Klan can preach about Jesus - that son of a bitch was, and has remained, a minister. I'm sure there's a special place in hell just for him. (Mind you I am not condemning Christianity, I'm just appalled that more people aren't appalled - come on here, people.)

I am sure there is a psecial place in Hell for him. This is truelly, a heinious crime.
Being somewhat cynical. I want justice to be served. Yet also question the motivation any time something from the past comes to the fore as this has.
I can not speak to the situation in Mississippi, but in my backyard, when ever something such as forced bussing is brought up in the press, the focus of the press is on the reminants, or lingering negativity. Seldom on the progress which has been made since 1974.
In as much as I know there are still backward thinking people, the fact that much has been gained in the area of inter-racial relations is not often noted.
Negativity sells.
Whether it be Swift Boats, racism, or anything else. The ability kick up the silt of ugliness, provide new mud for the slinging, and draw attention from current, even positive news, gets to me.
I am not saying let sleeping dogs lie. But I don't see what poking them with a stick, repeatedly, brings to the table.
