Hmmm... it's a 14 year old purchase, not the current TG series, and new for $170.
Unless there is some compelling reason for owning this out-of-production model, I think it is already commanding a generous price.

they only dip down to about $125-$135 used, so i wouldnt go over $125.
seeing as how they are $170 new, i take this as a good sign.
also, lots of people arent big fans of the TG series...
all things to keep in mind.

My friend has an M201 in his studio. Great for snare. I'd like to own one, but never see one used for a reaonsable price.
I picked up a pair of ATM23HE instead, and will trot those over to his place for some A/B comparison on his kit and Davisound pres.
Gotta over those M201 though.... solid brass, nice 'n hefty. Sound good, too.
The one mentioned above ended at $142.

i would just wait till the dollar gets stronger.
musicians-gear used to have them for $150 new, and i have seen sales here sore 125 euros with 20 euro shipping
http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/tho0033.htmlahhh for the strong dollar days, at one point that would have been like $140.

The ad is gone. Presumably you are referring to the Beyer M201 dynamic mic. I have an M201NŠ but have only used it a few times. It has very good construction and records well for a dynamic. It's quiet and has a frequency response of 40 - 18,000 Hz. I used it on acoustic guitar.
I use only Neumann condensers now plus an AKG 202D E1 (to mic my guitar speaker). Before the Neumanns I used a second D202 for my vocals. The D202 is expensive for a dynamic and interesting because it has 2 elements: a woofer and a tweeter. I have a large collection of mics, including 6 Shure 55 flashy vintage "Elvis" mics. They are useful for my music videos and decorating my studio. I gutted one and put a Shure SM58 inside. The others sound very muddy, except they do sound wonderful if you use vintage all tube everything and amplify them.

Again...a 4 year old ad...

The M201 ad may be history, but the mic is not. People are still interested in it, and since I own one I offered my opinion of this dynamic mic. Presumably that is why the administration has not removed this thread or disabled new responses.

As administration, I appreciate your wanting to discuss these fine tools...how about we move the topic to a section not pretty much reserved as a buy/sell/trade place?
Good topics - just the wrong place.
