Patching TT is still bad for phantom? Conventional wisdom is that it's okay to use those, just not the TRS bays, but then again conventional wisdom can be pretty foolish.

a TT is still a TRS

Well, yeah, but the jack and plug are shaped differently, and the chatter tends to be something along the lines that the design doesn't allow shorts. I don't trust that chatter, but I could imagine it being possible. I'm not really sure what to make of it.

So...its an upscale place, huh? biggrin.gif

I'm not sure I understand the issue...If running a project/private studio, then you know what jacks not to use; if running a commercial/for rent facility, then you know to install a non specific number of XLR to Pre input jackfields, and the rest can be TRS, whatever....

There again, ust making sure phantom of off before noodling around is not a bad way to go....I try to do this anyway.

Need coffee--took me a full minute to get that.

I don't run any mics through a patchbay at all, so it's all academic to me. But yeah, XLR patching would be smarter if that is something that's needed.

i am very familiar with the TTs, as well as others, but i view all the TRSs as the same, rather they are TTs, LONG-FRAMES ( which are also a Tiny Tips and my favorites ), or the shorting 1/4'' guitar jacks.
no matter the tip is going hit everything going in and out frown.gif
i simply prefer the XLR patch-bays for mic, and after line level i like the long-frames.
the largest reason for down sizing the long-frames to the TTs, is space, the long-frames are built proof bigdance.gif

i just always like to keep my mics on XLRs then i do not have to even think about it bigdance.gif
the less i have to think the better comp.gif

it is a habit that should be adopted by all, but i have to say i have screwed up a few time frown.gif luckily i have not ever damaged anything.

what i like about the video is it show people, with the correct patching their is no worries with your ribbons.

Good video. Basically reiterates what I've been told by old timers around here for years.

What I found to be more interesting was that preamp. It appears to be a "shinybox" preamp (500 form factor?) but I didn't see one on your page?

It's something I've had *holds fingers tiny bit apart* this close to shipping for what feels like an eternity. As soon as it's shipping, it will be on the website.
