Not to toot my horn (OK, just a bit...)

- Just signed a deal for a major label Tejano techno-artist, tracking to begin in March...
- Signed another deal for an indie label Norteno group...also to start tracking in March
- A 3rd Tejano group that I tracked for a TexMex major label is getting significant airplay in the midwest, from a rough mix we did shortly after all tracking accomplished...spent ALL day Thursday remixing for an airplay deal until the label can get out the final masters.

I guess if this keeps up, I'll have to learn to speak Spanish better than I do....and this is a good thing.

FWIW: The majority of instruments on the already completed project were done thru a Pacifica, P1 cards, EM silver card, bass, Rhodes, and other DIs thru the REDDI, and some other goodies....

nice work Peter...your goodies are fixing to be heard on radio stations from the southern tip of Argentina to the northern tip of Canada, anywhere there is a Tejano music fan...

Nice.

My interest in the REDDI was recently increased when I saw some catalog copy that it's supposed to be like a B-15 Portaflex in a box--any accuracy to that particularly, and any more about it generally?

Weird...I don't know, but I feel somewhat responsible for the B15 comparison...I did a review of a REDDI sometime back (is it here? I think it might be..) in which I made the comment...now its like everyone makes the correlation...

It does indeed have the same warmth and level of pleasing distortion inherent of the old Portaflex amps....a buddy of mine just retired his B15 and is opting for just the REDDI...tube issues and replacement costs can be a beast in those old Ampegs, you know....

Of all the gear I have, I can honestly say the one that I depend the MOST for bass, Rhodes, acoustic DI, etc if the REDDI - if mine ever got stolen, I would do whatever is needed to get another.

Call Peter - tell him Ken sent ya...hear it for yourself...contact me email if you need more info

Ken, congrats. The demographic changes happening in our part of the USA certainly fuel a lot of growth in a lot of industries. I'm glad you got these opportunities. I love Tejano and Norteno. Ticalaru, one of our members, was part of a Norteno group called Grupo Rival. I don't know if he's still in the band or not but he tracked their first album in a basement through a Grace 101. biggrin.gif That was years ago when Mojo Pie was brand new.

Its gonna be a blast of ironic purportion, that's for sure...

And, a very valuable lesson in humility...until I did this 1st 11 song project for Grupo Sello, I have no CLUE as to how Tejano was traditionally done....this was a good thing and a bad thing at the same time...

Good in that I had absolutely no predisposed notions of what it was supposed to sound like, so the mixes were really a fresh change for everyone concerned - bad in that I had to re-address a couple of MUST HAVE things that are pretty well unique to Tejano, Norteno, Cojunto, etc...

Its a blast! I'll say this, even if you have no idea what the song is about, if you don't end up wanting to dance, the I would imagine you have no pulse...this stuff almost forces listeners to get out of the chair and start dancing... bigdance.gif
