Had to send the power supply for our Soundtracs Solo 32 board off for upgrade/repairs/etc...it was starting to buzz on the main outputs, aux outs, etc...and of course, since Soundtracs power supplies are not in an abundance we've had to resort to tracking without aid of the main console...(it was due for service - 20 years old, ya know)

I had forgotten what a PITA setting up simple tracking is without a board...should be back early next week, good fpr another 20 years....

comp.gif I feel for you brother. I agree that boards are the best although the market would tell you that standalone preamps are the thing.

The market is not always right...the market is always the market, though...remember Beta? Best video format out there, died an unpleasant death in all but the highest end video...but that's another thread...

The Soundtracs guy in North America is Steve Magalnick in Florida...recommended by Soundtracs for everything...anyway, Steve rebuilt my power supply at a cost well below what I was expecting to pay - will be here in a day or so...

I keep telling these antiquated schmucks to send me their Quad 8, Trident A range, and other Jurassic era consoles to me at no charge...I'll even pick up shipping just to take them off their hands...

Jetboatguy has a nice little Amek console. We might ought to start a little console forum for the old school guys. I don't think there is one out there.

I'd be interested in that...there is one analog console board out there, but its pretty dead, and what life is there is almost exclusive AMEK...

Interesting...I spent most of the day re-installing the Soundtracs...after cussing, spitting, and carrying on like a man possessed because no matter WHAT I did, there was no sound from the left channel...I realized I had somehow unplugged the left speaker feed... frown.gif

Be that as it may...its good to be back in the OTB business... comp.gif

You need to visit the Amek site: http://www.amek.com/

They are out of business essentially. frown.gif

Yup...AMEK's been down for a while...dern shame, too, IMO...the mixer biz is a bad biz to be, so it seems.

As you know, it all circles around what is acceptable soundwise, what is considered en vogue, what is considered passe...personally I get better results faster when mixing with a board - others get better results mousing with plugins...in the end its all good...

And in the end its all bad. I do hope that there will be resurgence in console use (thus bringing back guys like AMEK, Soundtracs analog, D&R, etc)...but there again...what the hell do I know?
