Hi. Has anyone tried or is currently using the MOTU 828mk USB interface? I am interested in this interface and am wondering how well and reliable it performs? I have a Dell laptop which only has USB 2.0 ports. Would this be a good choice for my laptop?

If the laptop has a PCMCIA card slot, you can get a FW adapter card. Can't speak to how well that works, but that's probably the way I'll be heading once I have income again this fall.

We used one this last Nov and Dec with a MIDILite system. MIDILite is a MOTU/Mac based system that controls dimmers on a living Christmas tree. It is pretty slick. Anyway, we used a PowerBook with it, and it did what it was supposed to. I did not check the preamps. I imported PT wav files into MOTU5, did some MIDI mapping and, instrument and output assignments and it ran the show, controling the Crest V12 scene recalls/mutes, as well as playing stereo tracks of music and vocals.
