These are movie theater speakers. I've been wanting a pair of larger speakers for a sort of club sound as I want something that'll fill the room. I just bought a pair off of eBay. I'll let you know how they work.

Please do! I gotta ask, though...since they were designed for theaters, I would think the 'throw' is pretty long...do you think you will have any problems with them in a smaller room (assuming your control room is not the size of a theater....smile.gif )

I just have one room. It's about 18 foot by 23 foot. I'm not a believer in a control room unless you have a commercial recording studio. I do not. I like being with the musicians.

So the plot thickens...smile.gif

I've given serious thought to the one room approach, but was essentially talked out if (for now)...We are a private studio as well, and but as expansion continues, will eventually have a 'one-room approach' area for the very reasons you mentioned...

BTT: Hope those JBLs work out...keep us informed!

I got the speakers. I don't have them placed yet. They do sound decent though. I'll let you know what I think once I get them fully in place.

Those JBL 8330 are a true real mans, thumbsup.gif surround loudspeaker a classic, there’s still plenty of big cinemas that use the JBL 8330 even to this very day throughout the entire, auditorium in huge clusters to give uniform sound coverage from the surrounds. Whether the surrounds are (monaural or split-stereo-surround) good places to look for them are at (cinema suppliers) Ebay rarely has them so your best bet is (cinema suppliers) some are refurbished when they come out of cinemas that no longer require that model and often sale for low prices.

Here in the UK I missed a golden opportunity two years ago, when one (cinema supplier) called Future Projections UK had at least 15 or so that where being sold for as little as £99.00 and from what, I understand that was bargain.

That’s strange because when I tried a different link in a different thread, I got as far as I can remember, not allowed, somewhere along those lines, to view the file.
